For my synergy post, I looked at Major Lazer's album 'Peace Is The Mission'.
I found that from the cover, it shows a drawing of a Caribbean-esque soldier, with the text beside it. Ironic, as soldiers go through war to fight for peace, therefore the album being 'Peace Is The Mission'. However, from the album art, there isn't any indication of the artists that are actually making the music.
Major Lazer's branding continues with the theme of cartoon drawings as artwork, for example, the artwork of singles 'Lean On', 'Too Original' & 'Roll The Bass' are all drawings.
I found this helped continue the branding of Major Lazer as a whole, simply due to this not being a common thing within the music industry. It's rare that drawings are used for artworks of both albums and the singles on it, making the branding even more specific to the artist. Also what I found interesting is that not once do we see the artists on any of the artworks, as they are 'behind the scenes', with production.
This leads me to the music video for 'Too Original', as I sense there is an underlying metaphor within it too.
In the music video, the focus is shifted towards the features, more so than the main artists themselves. The only time that we see the main artists are when they are in the 'kitchen' (a term used for when musicians are in the studio, producing > metaphor being they're always behind the scenes, producing, for the people in front to enjoy). This, I feel, helps the synergy for their branding across the board, as if you've seen the artists before, you'll recognise its them, but if not, they remain anonymous whilst letting their music & artwork speak for them.
