Reflection On Final Edit

On Wednesday, 9th of December, we were able to finally watch our final edit, along with many of the edits from the class. After months of very hard work, we were able to sit back and enjoy the final product, which we feel came out very well. A large majority of what was initially planned was used in the final edit, along with new improvisations that worked along the way. We took advantage of the situations given to us, and our video shows a strong reflection of that.

The video itself showed focus on Dan Davids, as Arcane is seen to be in the background. The 2 shots of him being in it made people completely understand why we chose to keep him in the background, as he is intended to be behind the scenes. Having said that, we felt we could've improved a slight bit by incorporating Arcane in the background of more shots going throughout the video. Nevertheless, the turn out of the video itself was great!

Synergy and Album Cover Analysis

Synergy is where they use products together to communicate with the audience , in this presentation there are some examples of how some artist use synergy to create their brand identity

As Disclosure and Sam Smith were our inspiration for this music video, I have decided to look at their album covers and how we can use them to help us with the design of ours. 

Disclosure - Settle

The only image in this album is a young picture of the two brothers with the disclosure face art over their faces which is very simple but effective due to the face art. They have used a simple straight font with a black and white colour scheme at the front which is then carried on in white on the inside. The main element of their synergy is again the face art which appears in all platforms such as music videos. The colour scheme uses very calm and warm colours through a dark green with white text over it which makes it stand out. They use the Island logo under the song list inside. 

Sam Smith - In The Lonely Hour

This is a similar album cover to the one above as it only uses one picture with just the artist and album name on the front. The picture is is just him in a sitting position with the only noticeable synergy aspect being his costume which uses a bomber jacket like he often does. It also uses a simple straight font which stands out against its dark background. I have picked these two because they are very simple but effective with no complex use of photoshop or effects. This is something I will like to go for personally.

Rough Cut V3

Below is our most updated version of the music video. We're very proud of how the video has come together, however, we're continuing to make minor changes in order to make it reach its potential. Having said that, the video itself is at a standard we want to maintain and improve.

Editing Process (Continued)

So far, we have made very good progress in regards to editing. We are fast approaching the final chorus and outro, as we finish off the 2nd verse. Focusing on different parts of the song with different base shots, we feel, worked really well. This is apparent in the first verse, in contrast to the second.

In addition, we continued the change in use of opacity in the 2nd pre-chorus. We felt the effect was excellent, and we had the footage that would work with a second attempt of it. 

We remained excited to see the final product.
